About Mr. Dwayne Renville

Having previously served as a secondary school teacher for eleven years and as head of department, I joined the department of Mathematics, Physics & Statistics, University of Guyana, in the year 2009. My adventurous nature and passion for mathematics education allowed me to teach about all mathematics courses offered in the department. My leadership qualities, excellent team player attitude, and the trust of my colleagues enabled me to administer the department in a positively transformative manner where a number of projects have been successfully completed, all aimed at repositioning the department as the hub for areas in Applied Mathematics in Guyana. Academic qualifications obtained so far include Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mathematics at the University of Guyana and University of the West Indies respectively. There are a variety of research areas, interests and consultancies: cosmology, mathematics education such as error analysis, mobile learning, and application of mathematics and statistical modelling to areas such as public health and computer science. When not in the classroom nor administering the department, my popular activity on campus is star gazing and introducing as many students as possible to the field of astronomy.

Mathematics Education, Assessment & Evaluation

I have over five years experience in syllabus/curriculum development and review at secondary and tertiary levels in areas of Mathematics and Statistics. Setting, reviewing and supervising administration and marking of examinations at secondary and tertiary levels including the Caribbean Examinations Council.

Mathematician

A BSc and MSc in Mathematics along with a curious personality has equipped me with expert knowledge in Mathematics and Statistics. My training includes basic Mathematics, abstract algebra, analysis of real and complex variables, functional analysis, ODE and PDE, Stochastic processes and time series analysis.

Data Analyst and Researcher

My research include areas in pure mathematics, mathematical physics, mobile education, biostatistics, and mathematics education in particular error analysis. I have also engaged in a number of data analysis consultancies including the post of Data Manager for the post distribution survey by Vector Control Services within the MoPH.
