  • 2007 Degree in Forest Science (Sustainable Forest Management) University of Guyana.
  • 2015 Master of Science in Forest Biology (MSc) University of Guyana.

Research Interests

  • The research interest of Mr. Ewart Smith cover areas of spatial distribution of tropical forest tree species, value added in the forestry sector of Guyana and the development value chain and the analysis of the cost of production of Non Timber Forest Products (NTFP) in various communities in Guyana.

Agro- and Forest Ecology

Conducting research in environmental factors affecting forests of Guyana and the rest of the region Carries out studies to determine what conditions account for the prevalence of different varieties of trees. Investigates adaptability of different species to new environmental conditions, such as changes in soil type, climate, and altitude.

Vegetation mapping

survey/inspect the area to identify exotic and/or invasive plant species, document all findings by method(s) appropriate to the circumstance (record observations in a notebook, plot areas/species on maps, plot sites by GPS

Ecological Restoration, Rehabilitation, Recuperation and Phytoremediation of Degraded landscapes
